Mind for bycycle or bycycle for mind

Robert Heinlein once warned: “The bull wears itself out on the cape and fails to see the sword”. All our inventions are but improved means to an improved end.

For me, "what is AI" is a choice. A choice we have to make collectively for our future. And in the future,I want to look back knowing we've made the right choice for us as a society. That choice is the message that we're sending to future generations, saying that we, as humanity, choose AI to augment human thinking rather than just elevate power.

Our eyes are limited and with telescopes and microscopes we started to see the "unseeable". Similarly, our brains are limited, with AI, we can think the "unthinkable". This opens new possibilities for us. With these tools, we don't even need to be that smart anymore, we can operate on a different level that allows us to solve complex problems we face today.

Instead of creating "intelligent slaves" for us, we could have something more like a research assistant–a machine for thinking instead of a machine that thinks for us. We have the choice to follow the vision of the original thinkers of AI. They envisioned “machine intelligence” as tools for thinking that could be symbiotic with human thought processes.
