Produce a project that is WEIRD / CUTE / ABSURD / DADA / DIRTY / NAÏVE / QUEER or simply NON-NORMAL. engage with computation in a way you find suiting for *you*. move away from the *normal* modes of presentation and interaction ( e.g computer keyboard, laptop screen ).
You may use anything at your disposal: sensors, arduino, screens, projectors, dogs, fellow students, fruits, context. think about it over the weekend and present your idea on monday. plan small and iterate. *trust the process*.
Why: The idea was to explore how it would be like to have computation infused in real-world objects, a table for instance. People can interact with the programs directly with their hands. The table itself serves as a computational platform capable of running various programs, enabling users to explore them spatially. Each program inherently becomes a multiplayer experience, as interactions occur in the physical world. For the next iterations, users will be able to modify the source code of any program and see the immediate changes. To show the idea, we implemented a program called Chromesthesia that runs on the table, inspired by the question: “What if you could hear colors?”.
What: Interactive synthesizer with colorful physical objects
How: project uses projector as output device and camera as input sensor to detect interaction, program make sense of the interaction and give user guidence
